Coral Sea Live-Aboard added adventure, Australia 2008
Rainforest and Outback, Queensland Australia
3 Day 4WD Rainforest & Outback Safari
This is an extension of the Australia trip and is an optional portion of the vacation. You can participate or opt to just spend a few days in Cairns. If you just stay in the hotel, you would be missing an opportunity to explore part of this amazing continent. This Safari combines a total rainforest and outback adventure giving you a true Australian experience as we travel through an ever
changing and exciting landscape. The Itinerary below is just a sample of what we are planning. As the trip time gets closer we will get more specific.
Day 1:
Commence with short walks into World Heritage rainforest, swimming in pristine waterholes and visiting the most popular Tableland features. Explore a freshwater lake by open canoe and experience Australian hospitality at our Tableland lodge. After dinner we take you on a night spotting tour looking for nocturnal animals within the rainforest. (Lunch & Dinner)
Day 2:
Start with an early morning swim in a volcanic lake followed by the experience of swimming under the spectacular Millaa Millaa Falls. Crossing the Great Dividing Range we head west into the outback where isolation is a way of life. Following in the footsteps of early pioneers we discover relics of gold and tin mining. We take you on a walk to Aboriginal shelters to view ancient rock art high in the escarpment. Our camp is set in true outback style,
complete with swags and open fire cooking. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 3:
Rise with the outback sun. Swim in a billabong. Visit the Barbarrum Aboriginal Outstation to learn the art of didgeridoo playing and experience the making of traditional hunting instruments. Indulge in a huge BBQ lunch at Springmount Station before mounting our horses for an exhilarating hour of riding. Afterwards we return to Cairns completing our Australian Adventure. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
