| Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver | |

The Underwater Navigation Dive conducted during the PADI Adventures in Diving program may be counted toward this specialty at the discretion of the instructor conducting the specialty course.
Course Overview
The purpose of the PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty course is to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of underwater navigation. Training should emphasize fun and safety. During then Underwater Navigator course, you will learn the following:
The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of underwater navigation. | |
Methods of estimating distances underwater. | |
Natural navigation techniques. | |
Using underwater patterns. | |
Dive site relocation techniques. | |
Compass navigation techniques. |
This course is designed to be an introduction to basic underwater navigation and to help you develop the skills, knowledge and practical techniques necessary to enjoy this interesting activity.
