PADI Underwater Modeling Specialty

This course is designed to be an introduction to basic modeling for underwater photography and videography.   This course is designed to help you develop the skills, knowledge and practical techniques necessary to enjoy this interesting activity and enhance the interest in and message of underwater photos.

Prerequisites

To qualify for the Underwater Photographer course, you must:

• Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

• Be 15 years of age or older. 

Course Overview

This course covers basic modeling techniques for underwater photography with special emphasis on practical applications, environmental interactions and buoyancy control.

During then Underwater Modeling course, You will learn the following:

• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of modeling for  underwater-photography.

• Basic Photographic principles, composition, and techniques to enhance the marketability and overall appeal of underwater photographs.

• Discussion of color, attire, subject placement, equipment considerations, animal interaction, hypothermia and environmental conditions.

• The planning, preparation, and performance of a dive with an underwater photographer.

The open water portions of this course are often taught in conjunction with an underwater photography course.  This enables the practical application to become apparent for both the model and the photographer.

Course Costs

The PADI Underwater Modeling Specialty Certification from Divers Incorporated includes:

• 6 hours of classroom lecture

• Books, Handouts and course materials

• One Pool Session

• Three Certification Dives

• Certification Processing and Administrative fees

• Pictures for the model's portfolio taken during the course
