DSAT Gas Blender

More people are diving with enriched air and this means the demand for enriched air fills is also increasing. Individuals qualified to administer these fills to meet this demand are needed and the knowledge of the blending process can benefit many divers. This is where the DSAT Gas Blender course comes in. It can result in one of two certifications: DSAT Gas Blender or DSAT Trimix Blender.
 

Prerequisites

To qualify for the DSAT Gas Blender Course, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • PADI Enriched Air Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)

Course Overview

The DSAT Gas Blender course will train you as a qualified gas blender, allowing you to provide gas mixes to appropriately certified consumers. You'll learn the physical properties of oxygen, its associated hazards, handling requirements and what cleaning equipment is necessary. Finally, you will learn the five methods of obtaining the desired enriched air nitrox mix and the various methods used to obtain proper helium mixes.

Upon successful completion of the DSAT Gas Blender Course, you will be able to:

  • Blend enriched air and/or helium blends including trimix within one percent of the target mix as measured by the oxygen content, following accepted safety protocols and standards.

  • List the advantages and disadvantages of different blending methodologies.

  • Explain the potential hazards related to handling oxygen, and how to manage those hazards.

  • Explain and/or demonstrate the steps for oxygen cleaning equipment such as cylinders, regulators, partial pressure blending systems, etc.

  • Describe the requirements for oxygen service.

Course Costs

The DSAT Gas Blender course offered at Divers Incorporated includes:

  • 12 hours of classroom and Practical Lab lecture

  • Practical, hands on experience filling nitrox and/or trimix cylinders.

  • Practical, hands on experience cleaning equipment for Oxygen Service

  • DSAT Gas Blender Crew Pack and course materials

This program Costs $95 per person.
