DSAT Tec Basics

The DSAT Tec Basics course is designed to be a bridge from PADI courses to DSAT courses providing recreational divers an opportunity to gain exposure to tec diving and learn and practice entry level tec diving skills. It introduces recreational divers to tec diving without them having to make the larger commitment (in terms of equipment, time and cost) of the DSAT Tec Deep course. PADI Tec Basics dive scope is within recreational limits, using segments from DSAT Tec Diver one. Likewise, this specialty course may be credited toward DSAT Tec Level One.

Prerequisites

To qualify for the DSAT Tec Deep Course, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization with experience deep diving and with underwater navigation)

  • PADI Enriched Air Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization where the instruction includes planning dives for mixtures other than EAN32 and EAN36)

  • A PADI Rescue Diver certification is Highly Recommended

Course Overview

This program is intended for those divers with  the prerequisite experience and training needed to move into technical deep diving beyond the limits of recreational diving. Its goals are:

  • To qualify the diver to make gas-switch extended no-stop dives; decompression stop dives and accelerated decompression dives using air, enriched air and pure oxygen, to 165 feet using technical diving equipment and procedures required to manage the risks involved.

  • To train the diver in the motor skills required for technical diving

  • To assure the diver understands and acknowledges the hazards and risks involved with technical diving, as well as the limits of the training received in this course.

  • To train the diver to prepare for and respond to the reasonably foreseeable emergencies that may occur in this type of diving.

  • To provide the foundational skills and knowledge for further training in technical diving.
