DSAT Tec 40

The DSAT Tec 40 course introduces divers to limited decompression diving within accepted recreational depth limits.  Although you should take this course in complete Technical diving equipment if you wish to continue on through the Tec 45 and Tec 50,  the limits of the Tec 40 qualification allow for more flexibility. Therefore,  it is easy to accommodate divers interested in very limited technical diving since the Tec 40 equipment requirements are only a bit beyond the standard recreational kit.

Prerequisites

To qualify for the DSAT Tec 40 course you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • PADI Enriched Air Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization)

  • PADI Deep Diver Training or proof of 10 dives to 100ft.

  • 30 Logged dives (10 with EANx and 7 deeper than 100ft)

Course Overview

A Tec 40 diver is qualified to:

  • Use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with not more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 130ft

  • Use a single cylinder of decompression gas up to 50 percent oxygen to add conservatism to the required decompression.

Equipment Requirements

Since the equipment is such an integral part of the success of a Technical Diver, it is important that  you discuss the equipment with your instructor prior to purchasing it.  Opinions vary, philosophies vary, and some of the equipment you already have may be able to be upgraded for Tec Rec use.  If you have any questions regarding the equipment that you have or may need, please feel free to contact an instructor at Divers Incorporated.   The equipment requirements for the Tec 40 Course include

  • Standard Scuba Equipment with a BCD of appropriate lift  and attachment points for a single stage bottle

  • Exposure Protection appropriate for the environment
