PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty

Buoyancy Control is one of the most improtant skills you can master as a diver. The purpose of the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course is to polish a diver ’s buoyancy control beyond the Open Water Diver level. The goal of PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy training is to enhance your buoyancy control abilities through knowledge development and practical skills practice.

 Prerequisites

To qualify for the Peak Performance Buoyancy course, you must: 

  • Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

  • Be 10 years of age or older.

If a Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive was conducted during the PADI Adventures in Diving program, it may be counted toward the certification requirements for this specialty at the discretion of the instructor conducting the specialty course.

Course Overview

During the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course, you will learn the following:

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy fundamentals:Peak perfomance buoyancy is a skill to make you a master.

  1. Buoyancy check.

  2. Fine-tuning buoyancy underwater.

  3. Weight position and distribution.

  4. Streamlining.

  5. Visualization.

  •  Use of PADI ’s “Basic Weighting Guidelines.”

  •  An opportunity to polish buoyancy control beyond the Open Water Diver level:

  1. Positioning and distributing weight for comfort and desired body position.

  2. Visualization techniques prior to dives.

  3. Buoyancy checks.

  4. Establishing neutral buoyancy during all segments of a dive.

  5. Fine-tuning neutral buoyancy underwater.

  6. Hovering

Course Costs

The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Certification from Divers Incorporated includes:

  • 4 hours of classroom lecture

  • Books, Handouts and course materials

  • Two Certification Dives

  • Certification Processing and Administrative fees

This Course Costs $95 per person.
