PADI Ice Diver Assistant
Distinctive Specialty
This course is designed to be an introduction
to ice diving and to help you develop the skills, knowledge and techniques
necessary for tending to divers who are engaged in ice diving. Taught
alongside ice divers, this course teaches individuals who have an interest in
ice diving and its techniques but lack the experience, prerequisites or desire
to dive through the ice.

To qualify for the Ice Diver Assistant course, you
must:
Course Overview
This course covers the techniques for ice
diving and tending to ice divers. During the Ice Diver Assistant
course, you will learn the following:

The planning, organization, procedures,
techniques, problems and hazards of ice diving.

Site selection, preparation and hole-cutting
procedures

Special equipment, safety lines, signals,
communications, line tending and line-securing techniques
-
Effects of cold,
emergency procedures and safety-diver procedures
