PADI Boat Diver Specialty

This course is designed to be an introduction to boat diving and to help you develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for boat diving. The course includes basic knowledge about boats and boat safety to help you have a more safe and enjoyable time on the water.

Prerequisites

Before you can enroll in the Boat Diver course, you must: 

• Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

• Be 10 years of age or older.

If a Boat Dive was conducted during the PADI Adventures in Diving program, it may be counted toward the certification requirements for this specialty at the discretion of the instructor conducting the specialty course.

Course Overview

This course covers the knowledge and techniques of boat diving. The minimum number of recommended hours is 8, with time being equally divided between knowledge development and actual water-training sessions.

During the  Boat Diver course, you will learn the following:

• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of boat diving.

• Proper boat diving etiquette --storage of personal equipment, personal conduct and considerations for care of the boat.

• Basic, common boat terminology.

• Specific boat diving laws and/or ordinances.

• Local boat diving laws and/or ordinances.

• Overview of emergency/safety equipment needed on-board private diving vessels.

 When available and convenient, and if you are interested in seamanship and small boat handling you can take specialized workshops offered in this subject area from time to time by Divers Incorporated.

Course Costs

The PADI  Boat Diver Specialty Certification from Divers Incorporated includes:

• 4 - 8 hours of classroom lecture

• Books, Handouts and course materials

• Two Certification Dives (charter fees ($60-$80) are not included)

• Certification Processing and Administrative fees

This Course Costs $95 per person.
