PADI Altitude Diver Specialty

This course is designed to be an introduction to Altitude diving and to help you develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for Altitude diving. The course includes the knowledge necessary to safely perform dives at an altitude above 1000ft.

Prerequisites

Before you can enroll in the Altitude Diver course, you must: 

  • Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

  • Be 10 years of age or older.

If a Altitude Dive was conducted during the PADI Adventures in Diving program, it may be counted toward the certification requirements for this specialty at the discretion of the instructor conducting the specialty course.

Course Overview

This course covers the knowledge and techniques of Altitude diving. The minimum number of recommended hours is 24, with time being equally divided between knowledge development and actual water-training sessions.

During the  Altitude Diver course, you will learn the following:

  • The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of Altitude diving.

  • Special Recreational Dive Planner Procedures that must be followed when diving at Altitudes above 1000ft.

  • Safety Stops and Emergency Decompression Procedures

  • Special Equipment, Descent lines and buoyancy control considerations

  • Limited Visibility Diving and Underwater Navigation techniques

  • Overview of the physical aspects of the fresh water, altitude aquatic environment.

  • Cause, signs, symptoms and prevention of hypoxia and hypothermia while altitude diving.

Course Costs

The PADI  Altitude Diver Specialty Certification from Divers Incorporated includes:

  • 24 - 30 hours of classroom lecture

  • Books, Handouts and course materials

  • Two Certification Dives at altitude.

  • Certification Processing and Administrative fees

This Course Costs $295 per person.
