PADI Adventures in Diving Program

The PADI Adventures in Diving program provides you with a structured means to explore special diving interests and gain dive experience. Participating in an Adventure Dive is often the first step novice divers take after their initial certification. However, all divers benefit from the program’s flexibility and the opportunity it provides for discovery and exploration. The program allows you to customize your training path and learn various underwater tasks that broaden your awareness of the environment and your capabilities as a diver.  If you have participated in specialty diver courses, or you have completed your PADI National Geographic Diver Certification, you may have already started the Adventures in Diving Program and are able to credit your previous experienced towards your Advanced Certification.

Program Philosophy

The PADI Adventures in Diving program is based on the premise that diving is a means to explore other interests. Once comfortable with basic skills, most divers want to conquer new tasks, see different creatures, journey into diverse environments and experience new adventures. If you look for convenience and flexibility in continuing your diving education, this will be perfect for you. The program’s design allows you to choose the dives that interest you and to sample activities under the guidance of a PADI Instructor. Sometimes you may choose to make only one Adventure Dive. Other times you may want additional recognition and complete several dives to earn a PADI certification.

The variety of dives, flexible scheduling options and certification paths makes this program super easy to participate in.  Because each Adventure Dive may count as the first dive of the related PADI Specialty Diver course, the program tends to motivate you continue training in those areas that really interest you.  in those areas that really interest you. Sometimes divers choose to earn specialty diver certifications before completing the dives required for an Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver certification. No matter which training path you choose, the Adventures in Diving program gives you an opportunity to gain practical diving experience under supervision of a Divers Incorporated PADI Instructor.

Course Prerequisites

To qualify for PADI Adventure Diver training, you must:

  • Be certified as PADI Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

  • Be 10 years of age or older.

Note: Divers under the age of 15 may obtain a PADI Junior Adventure Diver and PADI Junior Advanced Open Water certification. The Junior certification card carries the requirement that the individual must dive with a certified adult.

Course Costs

The Adventures in Diving Program is set up to be an economical “pay-as-you-go” course.  A $100 non- refundable registration fee is required for this course. This initial fee includes the Textbook, Crew-pack, and certification processing fees.   This initial deposit also includes the first dive of your Adventures In Diving Program, a PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Discovery Dive. For the rest of the dives, we make it very easy for you to schedule them.  On almost any fun dive, open water dive weekend, Great Lakes charter, tropical adventure or weekday dives where you can dive with a Divers Incorporated Instructor, we can do the lecture and the dive briefing at the site and then do all of the fun stuff in the water as long as you have completed the appropriate chapter and Knowledge Review in your text book.  You are even allowed to participate in up to three training dives per day.  Get three dives done and you have earned your PADI Adventure Diver Certification.  But it doesn’t stop there, if you come out for another two adventure dives, you will qualify for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification. You can do all of the dives in one weekend, or, if you prefer, you can do them as your time and budget allows, one or two at a time.

After the initial deposit, each of the dives is only $25 per dive.  Divers Incorporated is happy to supply all of the specialty equipment for the dives that you will need for each of the Adventure Dives. You will need to provide (or rent) your scuba equipment, compass, bottom timer or computer, Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Boots, Gloves and proper exposure suit for the dive(s).   Most of the major equipment can be rented at Divers Incorporated, but you will probably want to have your own.

After the successful completion of the required dives you will need to provide your final certifying instructor with a picture so that they can process your PADI Certification Card. Even after you have completed all of the dives, you can continue to participate in PADI Adventure Dives with an instructor for only $25 per dive. The schedule of the Fun Dives and Adventures where you can participate in PADI Adventure Dives are listed at the store or here online. We look forward to diving with you.

You can also complete PADI Adventure Dives on any weekend when we have certification dives planned.   For a Schedule of upcoming classes and times click here!
