PADI AED for Divers Specialty

This course is designed to be an introduction to Automated External Defribillators and encompasses entry-level training designed to educate the general public to recognize the warning signs of possible cardiac arrest and provide first aid using CPR/First Aid and an AED unit while activating the local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and arranging for evacuation to the nearest medical facility.

Prerequisites

Before you can enroll in the AED for Divers Specialty Diver course, you must: 

  • Be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

  • Have completed a CPR Certification course within the past two years

  • Be 10 years of age or older.

Course Overview

This course covers the knowledge and techniques needed in first aid management of suspected cardiac arrest using an AED unit. This program includes AED use (including practical application sessions), a component relevant to diving, how to recognize signs of cardiac arrest and how to arrange for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to assist the patient. This course builds on skills learned in the prerequisite CPR course.

During the AED for Divers course, you will learn the following:

  • How to Recognize the warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest

  • How to provide Primary Care (CPR) while setting up the AED unit.

  • How to provide Primary Care (CPR) with an AED.

  • How to properly care-for and maintain an AED unit.

Course Costs

The PADI AED for Divers Distinctive Specialty Certification from Divers Incorporated includes:

  • 3 - 4 hours of classroom lecture

  • Handouts and course materials

  • Certification Processing and Administrative fees
