Located just one
mile south of Bowling Green in Northwest Ohio, the Portage Quarry Recreation
Club is a complete recreation facility that caters to the Scuba diver enthusiast
and their families. The Scuba diver will experience some of the best
recreational diving in Ohio with clear water visibility, wreck diving, and
plenty of fish. The Scuba dive shop includes tank rentals, nitrox fills, and
last minute or forgotten equipment.
The cost of diving is $10 per day per diver. You need to fill out a diving form
and pay as you come in through the gate. The Quarry is open from the first
weekend in May until the last weekend in October each year.

the rest of
the family the general admission price is $4 per
adult and $3 for children 12 and under. They will
have lots to do since there are camp sites, swimming with combed sand beach,
sand volleyball,
and hydro bikes for rent. The quarry is also close to the Slippery Elm
Trail which provides a relaxing opportunity for
leisurely walking, jogging, biking, or roller blading.
For any non-divers that may be joining you, the Portage Quarry Swim Beach is open, weather permitting. The beach house includes changing rooms and a concession stand. Swim area depth is from 0’ – 15’. The area is roped off with protection markers.
Portage Quarry Campground is past the
beach from the park’s main entrance and has a huge space with “primitive” sites (no hookup for water or electric) at $4 per
person per night. The fee is payable at the main entrance and they will
give you a camping pass. The Campground is open April 1 – December 31 and
most sites include a fire ring. There are a very limited number of sites
that have electric and water hookups and they are at an additional cost.
At both the dive site and the campground, the facilities
are very primitive. The “outhouses” may not have toilet paper so you are
advised to bring it yourself, just in case. The Quarry does not allow pets
so please leave your furry friends at home. In 2008 they have announced
that they will be upgrading their facilities to include flush toilets and
showers.

30 Minutes south of Toledo, Ohio.

toward PORTAGE / BOWLING GREEN. (0.2 miles)

Turn LEFT onto S MAIN ST
/ S DIXIE HWY / OH-25 S. Continue to follow S DIXIE HWY / OH-25 S. The Quarry
entrance is on your Right. You will not see it until you are almost on top of
it.
